The rap world has lost another young talent far too soon. TMZ reported that Mac Miller, real name Malcolm McCormick, was found earlier this morning in his San Fernando Valley home unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Miller released his fifth studio album Swimming only a month ago with great reviews from critics. He more recently has grabbed the spotlight due to his split from ex girlfriend Ariana Grande, whom shortly after became engaged to SNL star Pete Davidson. Grande has not yet responded to the news of Miller’s passing.

Miller was known for speaking about his battles with depression and drug abuse, often in his music and also in interviews. He was charged with an infamous DUI in May due to hitting a pole in his Mercedes. The star spoke about his stuggles and pressures from fame in his most recent interview with Vulture, which was only released a day before his tragic death:

‘I really wouldn’t want just happiness. And I don’t want just sadness either. I don’t want to be depressed. I want to be able to have good days and bad days. I can’t imagine not waking up sometimes and being like, ‘I don’t feel like doing s**t.’ And then having days where you wake up and you feel on top of the world,’ he said.

This is a big loss for the music world. At only 26, Mac had so much more to offer to us as fans. His personality was infectious, and listening to him in interviews or his music made you feel like he was an old friend. We need more Mac Millers in this world.

RIP Malcolm McCormick:
